I don’t think there's a student alive who isn't familiar with the concept of a pub crawl, but just in case, the basic idea is to walk from pub to pub drinking with your friends until the sun comes up or you all pass out (whichever comes first). To most of us, this means hitting a few locals or heading to the next town over if you are feeling adventurous. What you need to know, is that there is so much more out there just a quick flight away. The following five crawls are on my personal wishlist.
Crawl With Us, Prague.
Labelled as one of the greatest pubs crawls in the world, ‘crawl with me’ has over 1000 reviews on Trip Advisor. The reoccurring theme is the great staff, cheap drinks and a hell of a good time. A couple of important things to note: with this crawl you will end up visiting 4 different pubs within the centre of Prague (with free entry) and end up in Karlovy Lazne, Prague's biggest club. 5 Floors, 5 different themes, and more alcohol than you will ever see in your life. You will receive a free welcome shot at each pub and most importantly, the first hour of drinking is (and I’m not making this up) COMPLETELY FREE.
All of this for a grand total of 26 Euros (and that includes the t-shirt).
Krakow Crawl, Poland.
Slightly less popular than ‘Crawl with Us’ but with exceedingly good reviews (a whopping 94% 5-stars). This crawl has been described ‘great fun’ and ‘an easy way to make new friends’. Like the previous crawl, all entrance fees are included, as well as a professional party guide (I want this job!) and again, 1 hour of free drinking.
From £11.60 (literally less than the price of two cocktails in Rev’s De Cuba)
Pub Crawl Ljubljana, Slovenia
Like ‘Karkow Crawl’ this Solivanian pub crawl has a solid 5-star rating, despite the fact that this one doesn't have an hour of free drinks. What makes up the difference according to the reviewers who have been to both crawls? Drinking games - the widely known quickest method to become good friends with a complete stranger, and after all, isn’t that what pub crawls are all about?
For the price, I'm not even surprised by how cheap these are now, from £13.39.
Edinburgh Pub Crawl, Scotland
A little something closer to home, for those who don’t like travelling (or don’t have the money to). Edinburgh has by far the best price to experience ratio on this list: 7 bars, 5 shots, 1 cocktail, a Jager bomb train, up to 25% discount in selected bars, free entry, tour guides and an aim to make this the best night of your life (try saying all that without taking a breath). Based on the reviews, this pub crawls caters and appeals to people of all ages (above 18 obviously) and prides itself on a free and welcoming environment.
Also for £7, it is the cheapest on this list.
SANDEMAN’s New Europe – Berlin, Germany
As all of the crawls on this list so far have focused on the nightlife aspect, I thought it appropriate to include one that is a little calmer and for those of you that are not massive partygoers. SANDEMAN hosts pub crawls all over Europe, but their 3 hour Beer in Berlin is special. Not only will you be guided through the beer capital of the world, you will also be invited to three local bars and breweries to drink. According to reviewers, this crawl can not only provide you with good beer but also a bit of education.
A little pricier than the others, from £23.31, but worth it for those who love all things beer. Not only this but if you wanted a taste of Berlin's nightlife, SANDEMAN also hosts a nightlife crawl from £10.71.
Now you should have all the info you need for a great night out in Europe, but make sure you don't leave without me.
